Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi K60 Ultra smartphone will feature something never before seen on the manufacturer's phones: four years of core operating system and five years of software support.
While other phones must be replaced in less time because they no longer receive software updates, the Redmi K60 Ultra joins models from Samsung, OnePlus and OPPO in the longer software support policy.
The Redmi K60 Ultra will be one of the first to receive MIUI 15.
Also known as Extreme Edition in China, the Redmi K60 Ultra will receive at least four major Android updates and five years of security patches. The news about this model means that its users will have much longer software support than owners of other Xiaomi smartphones or other brands. But that won't be the only new feature of the Redmi K60.
The new smartphone will also be one of the first to receive Xiaomi's new operating system, MIUI 15. Based on Android 14, the new OS should be a major improvement in terms of design and user experience, according to the few details Xiaomi unveiled at a presentation in early August.
In addition, the Redmi K60 Ultra will feature a 6.67-inch 144 Hz display with OLED technology, which provides reduced bezels (the black borders around the screen) and higher image quality. As for the processor, the new model will have the 4 nm Dimensity 9200+ octa-core Dimensity 9200+ chip.
The phone also has the 54 MP Sony IMX800 rear camera with OIS 8K HDR10 + video recording + 8 MP ultra wide-angle and 2 MP macro. And a not lackluster front camera. The smartphone has a 20 MP sensor for selfies.
Unveiled on August 14, the Redimi K60 Ultra arrived in Chinese stores two days later. And just five minutes later, its stock of 220,000 units was sold out. There are no dates yet for it to hit stores in other countries.
