Threads gets the long-awaited web version and should soon have more features

The wait is over! As promised by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg earlier this month, the long-awaited web version of Threads officially launched last Thursday (24).

Users look forward to having access to the "missing features" in the mobile version

As soon as it was launched, the big Twitter/X competitor broke user records in a short period of time. In the first week alone, Threads had more than 100 million subscribers. However, by mid-August, the number of daily active users (DAU) dropped by 80%. This is believed to be because some features are still missing in the app.

The platform for iOS and Android recently added the feature to view posts in chronological order and enable notifications. Another "new" feature that was well received by users was the option to repost content. But there are still missing features in the app that subscribers expect to see in the web version of Threads.

One of these is the ability to search for content and hashtags, something already quite common on social networks such as Instagram, also from Meta, and Twitter. Currently, the mobile version only allows users to search.

In the recently launched web version of Threads, it is already possible to view the feed, interact with other users' posts and publish. The information provided by Meta so far is that the Threads team is expected to add new features to the web version in the coming weeks.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri remains reluctant to add a direct message (DM) box to Threads. But he has already said that postediting features are in development and should launch soon.

So far, Threads gives users the impression that it has been launched in a rush, amid the numerous complaints about Twitter/X following Elon Musk's start of the platform's management. However, new feature development seems to be in full swing among Meta teams, and Threads remains Twitter's main competitor.
