The Zenfone 10 could be the last smartphone in the Asus series

Asus is likely to put an end to its Zenfone smartphone range soon. According to Technews Taiwan, the Zenfone 10 will be the last generation of the series.

A source revealed to the Taiwanese site that, since June, the tech company has been making changes to its organizational structure. This includes massive layoffs and employee transfers.

Apparently, the Zenfone handset division has been the hardest hit recently and its staff will be joining the ROG Phone division, Asus' line of gaming smartphones. According to the source, the Zenfone 10 will be the last device in the series.

Speculation is that, going forward, Asus will only invest in the ROG Phone line, which is made up of rugged devices dedicated to demanding users who like to play serious games on their smartphones.

In recent months, users have reported a few episodes that seem to reinforce the possibility that the series will be discontinued. According to the Android Authority website, since the beginning of August, Asus no longer allows unlocking the bootloader on the line's smartphones. According to the brand, the feature is temporarily unavailable.

In addition, the company recently removed older firmware from the devices on its website. The company said this was a security measure to ensure that users only have the latest versions installed on their handsets.

Despite all the rumors, Asus has not officially confirmed the end of the Zenfone series.
