An alleged first image and video of Sony's new version of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) has leaked on a Chinese forum. While still a rumor, the leak has put console fans on guard, as it was this same forum that leaked what the original PS5 looked like back in 2020.

What's new in the PS5

In the tweet in which he shared the image, the same user pointed out that the information so far is that the console is 5 cm shorter than the original PS5. However, the thickness is the same.
Among the possible new features, the removable disk drive is one of the most anticipated. If confirmed, each user will be able to choose whether or not to add a disk drive for use only with games purchased online or also with "external" games on disk.
When PS5 Slim should be launched
It is important to note that all information about the PS5 Slim so far are rumors. Sony has not yet confirmed any of them. But the rumors around the alleged launch seem to make some sense and already point to a September date.
The rumors started during the US Federal Trade Commission proceedings against Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard. And Sony's recent promotions of the PS5 have reinforced the theory about "destocking" to launch the new product.
