NASA's James Webb Space Telescope recorded an image with a curious detail: a question mark. In reality, the recording was made to capture the formation of two young stars. However, the peculiar detail of the recognizable question mark did not go unnoticed.
Scientists believe it may be the merger of two galaxies.
Released by NASA on July 26, the image focuses on the pair of stars named Herbig-Haro 46/47. However, attention has recently been drawn to an alleged question mark in the photo. So far, it is assumed that the symbol was formed by the merger of two galaxies.
"Their interactions may have caused the distorted shape of the question mark. This may be the first time we have seen this particular object. Additional follow-up would be needed to find out for sure what it is," representatives from the Space Telescope Science Institute told Space.com.
As for the stars that prompted the telescope's recording, NASA stressed that they are an important object of study precisely because they are relatively young. According to a statement on the original image, studying the growth of these stars could allow scientists to understand even the Sun's formation process.
