Another day, another new path along which Artificial Intelligence expands. Now the popular drawing program Paint is about to gain AI capabilities. According to Windows Central, Microsoft wants Paint and AI to go hand in hand starting with Windows 11.
Magic Paint could revolutionize the program
According to Windows Central, Paint could be one of the programs to which Windows wants to apply Artificial Intelligence functions. In the case of the classic drawing program, the technology would be driven by the DALL-E AI model, the same one used by Bing Image Creator.
The new version of Paint should still have the previous drawing features. The new feature will be a button called "Magic Paint." By clicking on it, the user will have access to a side window in which they can describe the image they want to create. From there, the AI will create a drawing according to the given guidelines.
Although a change to such a classic show may seem shocking at first, the update seems to make a lot of sense. With tools like Bing Image Creator and Canva working with AI, Windows doesn't want to be left behind with Paint.
What other programs could Microsoft bring AI to?
Also according to the Windows Central report, Microsoft has plans to add AI features to the Camera, Snipping, and Photos programs.
Camera and Clippings may be equipped with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. This technology allows the program to recognize text characters in images, which can save the user a lot of time copying and pasting text.
The Photos program, for its part, could gain the ability to identify objects and people in an image and the ability to crop them for use elsewhere.
Although Microsoft appears to be interested in adding AI features to the aforementioned programs, the company has not yet confirmed whether it will move forward with the plans or when they will reach the public.
