According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the structure of this year's Apple event should be very similar to that of the iPhone 14 launch, but the new Mac lineup should not be among the new products presented.

"The structure of the event, I'm told, will coincide with the iPhone 14 launch: a pre-recorded video will be shown online, as well as at an event at the company's headquarters [...] There will also be another launch in October - probably for the first M3 Macs - but it's unclear whether it will be considered a formal event," Gurman wrote in his newsletter last Sunday.

While the news may disappoint fans of the brand a bit, it's worth remembering that this wouldn't be the first time the new Mac range hasn't been unveiled at the annual event. In 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2018, 2020 and 2021, the company held events in October to launch other products that didn't make it to the annual event. And the M2 MacBook Pro and M2 Mac mini models didn't even have a launch event.

What we can expect from the new line of Macs.

So far, information about the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M3 is very scarce. But the new line of Macs is expected to feature the long-awaited macOS Sonoma. According to the test versions that have so far reached developers, some of the new features of the system could be:

  • Presenter Overlay: a feature for sharing screens of different sizes while participating in a video call.
  • Image Control: the new feature should allow you to control zooming and scrolling during video calls.
  • Game Mode: in this mode, the Mac will ensure that the CPU and GPU are prioritized for gaming.
  • Profile in Safari: Apple's browser will gain the ability to create individual profiles with browsing history, favorites, tab groups and extensions. Search will also be more responsive and with more relevant suggestions.
