While anticipation for Apple's annual September event is at an all-time high, there are a few more new features that may not be unveiled at the event, but will be coming soon. One of them is the long-awaited iPhone SE 4, the next release in Apple's budget lineup. And rumors point to a device with features from the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 15, which has yet to go on sale.
The iPhone SE 4 should bring improvements from the iPhone 14 and 15 lines.
Rumors about the iPhone SE 4 are already numerous, but we have listed some of the most likely ones that come from sources that have already proven to be correct.
Starting with its looks, it appears that the new model in the SE line will have a similar design to the iPhone 14. This could mean that the SE will be able to be opened from both the front and back panels, which could make repairs easier at a lower cost.
In terms of features, the SE 4 could also incorporate one of the iPhone 15 line's most talked-about possible changes: the removal of the mute button and the introduction of a multifunction button. According to information from the latest iOS 17 test version, this button can be customized to perform different tasks.
According to information from the leaker Unknownz21, the new model should incorporate FaceID and the new USB-C connection port. It is also rumored that the display of the new phone could switch from LCD to OLED technology, which provides better image quality and fewer black edges.
The SE line could be a good alternative to the probably very expensive iPhone 15
To give you an idea of the price difference between the SE line and the classic iPhones, the iPhone SE 3 is sold today in the official Apple store for $2,900. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro lines, on the other hand, are priced between $1,500 and $2,150.
The iPhone SE 3 already has the A15 Bionic chip, the same used in the iPhone 13, to ensure more speed and fluidity in the operation of applications. Compared to the second generation of the SE line, the SE 3 brings 1.2 times faster graphics. Like the latest iPhones, Apple's budget line comes with iOS 16 integrated with a long battery life, 5G and a camera to make any user happy.
Recently, a rumor revealed that Apple might reduce production of the iPhone 15 for fear of a drop in sales. The reason for this possible drop would be precisely the price increase compared to the previous generation. If this were to happen, a new SE could be a welcome option for those who want to keep their terminal as new as possible.
What's more, given the new features brought by the SE 3 compared to the SE 2, the SE 4 is not expected to disappoint. If the company maintains the same two-year periodicity for releasing a new device in its cheaper SE range, the iPhone SE 4 is likely to arrive as early as 2024, given that its predecessor was launched in March 2022.
