Users are already exposing batteries with a 14% performance drop

iPhone 14 Pro users report battery problems

Several iPhone Pro 14 users have taken to their social networks to share a common problem. With less than a year of use, the battery capacity of their devices has decreased much more than expected.

According to Apple itself, battery replacement is indicated from the moment its performance drops to 80 percent, that is, after suffering a 20 percent drop from its original performance. According to the manufacturer, this should not occur before 500 full charge cycles. However, many users are complaining that their iPhones 14 Pro are already very close to the mark.

Users are already exposing batteries with a 14% performance drop.

Data on battery performance during device usage time has been more accessible to users since 2018, when Apple launched the "Battery Health" feature, still with iOS 11.3. And it has been using this feature that different users have been exposing the battery fragility of their iPhones 14 Pro.

Twitter user MilesAboveTech posted a screenshot showing that, with only 11 months of use, his device's battery was already down to 86% of its original performance. The 14% drop in performance seems quite premature.

User Andrew Clare, meanwhile, compared the battery performance of his iPhone 13 Pro after two years (down to 85%) with what happened to his iPhone 14 Pro in less than a year (already down to 90%).

Among the responses in the various tweets, it is possible to find iPhone 14 Pro owners who have not yet detected such a large drop in the battery performance of their devices. However, the alarming thing is that there are also several responses from users who are already experiencing the same problem, which shows that the situation is not an isolated case.

In response to Andrew Clare's tweet (above), for example, user Xerogravity showed that her iPhone 12 still has 87% battery performance after two and a half years of use. Meanwhile, user Swillu shared a screenshot in which his iPhone 14 Pro's battery was already performing at 98% on the day Apple launched its new lineup.

What could be causing the problem and how to fix it.

Apple has not yet acknowledged the problem. For this reason, it's still hard to say for sure what could be causing the iPhone 14 Pro's poor battery performance compared to previous models. But the theories are based precisely on the new features the line has brought.

The Wall Street Journal's Joanna Stern recalls that the iPhone 14 Pro is the first device to have an always-on display. Stern even claims that her phone's battery is already at 88% capacity after 451 charges (data obtained with the Coconut Battery app for Mac).

Without an official statement from Apple, the only possible solution is to replace the battery.
