Atari has mixed current technology with a good dose of nostalgia and announced the Atari 2,600+. The new retro mini-console is a tribute to the Atari 2.600, but accepts game cartridges from both the 2.600 and the Atari 7.800.

The result of a collaboration with Plaion, the Atari 2,600+ also comes with ten games already included, HDMI output, widescreen support and a remodeled Atari CX40 joystick. The new console is scheduled for release on November 17 and will hit stores for $129.99.

What games does the Atari 2,600+ already have and what others will it accept?

The Atari 2,600+ comes with a "10 games in 1" cartridge. The games included are:

  • Adventure
  • Combat
  • Dodge
  • Haunted House
  • Labyrinth Madness
  • Missile Command
  • RealSports Volleyball
  • Surround
  • Video Pinball
  • Yars' Revenge

For those who already want to start "hunting" for other old games that can be played on the new miniconsole, Atari has also published the complete list of available cartridges. More than 400 games from the classic Atari 2,600 and almost 50 games from the Atari 7,800 are compatible with the new console. Check out some of the games on the list.

Although it won't hit stores until November 17, the Atari 2,600+ is already available for pre-order on Atari's website. The console comes with a joystick and costs $129.99. If you want a second joystick (the console supports two), the second one will cost an additional US$24.99.
