Apple may cut iPhone 15 production for fear of falling sales

The price of the last few generations of the iPhone has always been something that has drawn commentary, leaving some astonished and others even scared. But it seems that the price of the iPhone 15 may go further. New rumors suggest that Apple may cut production of the new line for fear that it won't sell as expected.

Apple has adjusted its sales estimates (downward).

The information has been leaked by Jeff Pu, known as an experienced Apple insider. Pu told 9to5Mac that the company was cutting its iPhone 15 production targets, adjusting its estimates from 83 million units sold by the end of the year to 77 million units.

According to the rumor, the "demand concerns" were motivated by the possibility that price increases for the new model would deter iPhone owners from upgrading their devices this year. Nor are the high values likely to motivate new customers to purchase the Generation 15 as their first Apple phone.

"Cutting the pre-release build plan is not a positive sign, and the possible price increase of the iPhone 15 Pro Max could also dampen final demand," Pu said.

Problems with suppliers could also affect Apple's production

Pricing for the new generation of iPhones will only be officially revealed during Apple's September event. However, the new models are expected to be more expensive than the previous generation. But this might not be the only reason for Apple's possible withdrawal from the production of the new phones.

According to information from Jeff Pu, some problems with iPhone parts suppliers could be standing in the way. Sony camera sensors, the technology needed to make the screen nearly bezel-less and the new titanium frame are some of the items that may be experiencing delays.

But does all this mean the new iPhone 15 will sell poorly? No. Market analysts expect the new line of iPhones to remain among the best-selling phones of 2023, even with a reduction in the number of sales predicted in advance.
